One of the things Rizzie loves most is learning. Rizzie has a B.A. in
music from Michigan State University and she is a multi-instrumentalist
with experiences ranging from "formally trained" to "self-taught" and
things in between. Rizzie sought to engage the youngest learners and
their caregivers in a way that encourages lifelong exploration with
plenty of laughter along the way. She joined Music For Families in 2014
and has loved teaching Music Together programs ever since.
In
2019, Rizzie was awarded Music Together Certification Level 1 status for
outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy,
and parent education by the Center for Music and Young Children in
Princeton, NJ.
Music continues in Rizzie's life outside of the
classroom. She has performed across the United States, Europe, and
Mexico. In her spare time, Rizzie enjoys studying languages and aspires
to speak 4 languages (and loves to practice speaking them with the
families in her classes!).
